CapFrix — Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 9, 2026
Overview
CapFrix is a browser extension that automatically corrects a transcription bug in CapCut's automatic captions, where the French articles "un" and "une" are misread as the digit "1". This policy explains what data is accessed, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
Data accessed
CapFrix reads the text content of automatic captions on capcut.com pages that contain an isolated digit "1", in order to determine the correct French article ("un" or "une") based on grammatical context.
No other data is accessed, read, or stored.
How your data is used
Caption text is sent directly from your browser to the OpenAI API (api.openai.com) using an API key provided at build time. It is used solely to analyze grammatical context and suggest the appropriate French article. The extension does not use your data for any other purpose.
Third-party services
Caption text is transmitted to OpenAI under the terms of OpenAI's own privacy policy, available at: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
No other third-party services receive your data.
Data retention
CapFrix does not operate any server or database. No data is stored by the extension developer at any point.
Correction results are temporarily stored in your browser's session storage (chrome.storage.session) for the duration of your browser session only. This data is automatically deleted when you close your browser and is never transmitted to the extension developer.
Data sharing
CapFrix does not sell, trade, or share your data with any party other than OpenAI as described above.
Permissions used
